British Asparagus Seasonality Guide
The British asparagus season runs from St George’s Day on 23rd April, to Summer Solstice on 21st June.
Asparagus is best when it’s fresh, that’s why its journey from farm to shelf is quick, so be sure to enjoy it soon after buying!

Where to buy
Fresh British asparagus is widely stocked during the season. You can find it at farm shops, greengrocers, delis, and most major supermarkets.
Want someone else to cook it for you? Many restaurants with seasonal menus will be serving British Asparagus during the season, so don’t miss out!

How to store
Storing asparagus is easy – treat it like fresh flowers! Trim the ends slightly and stand them in a jug with a little bit of water, then pop it in the fridge. To get the most of your asparagus, it’s best to cook it within 48 hours of bringing it home.
Top tip: If space is tight in your fridge, wrap the ends in some damp kitchen roll instead.

To get your asparagus ready for cooking, you need to rinse it under cold water, trim the ends, but keep the tips intact – they’re the most flavourful part!
